Judy Holding
Mallee Tree sculpture by Judy Holding on the deck at Alice Barker House.
Works on paper by Judy Holding are featured throughout the house.
Holding’s love of the Australian landscape is the inspiration behind her beautiful works on paper and sculptures. Since 1979, the artist has habitually traveled to the Northern Territory, especially to the monsoonal escarpment country of the Kakadu region, to observe and document indigenous ritual practices, spiritual beliefs and social structures. The rich imagery that adorns Holding’s art works is drawn from her lived experience of the Australian landscape.
